Ok I'm making a Star Wars Fan Film (I'm still writing the script decided to work on the props) anyways I got this rifle from the dollar store and was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to make it look more futuristic (like the clone trooper blasters).

P.S. I am going to paint it black.

I don't understand. Indie-no budget filmmakers seem to gravitate to two genres, Scifi and horror, the two hardest to do without a big budget.

i know what you mean, and strangly enough, ive never done a sci-fi or horror movie. though sci-fi, isnt that hard to do on a low budget. all you have to do if find cool looking crap and paint it.

And make it campy. Like Darkstar.

Paint it alternating layers of silver and black to give it a metallic black look.

Maybe get some plastic bottles or can's, and cut them up and attach it to the barrel like with Erik's BFG design.

do what i did. paint it black, and use chrome nail polish to ad detail, like scratches, and other parts. you can see the gun that i used this on in the video ware i shot my head off.

You can do Horror and Sci Fi on a low budget. It all depends on your story. Maybe an alien was trapped on earth and uses this weapon on a group of people running from it or something. Same for horror. You can get some fairly cheap killer costumes.

I think a fantasy film would cost the most.

yea i would use more of a metallic looking paint instead of black. and then maybe a very thin layer of black just to make it darker. but yea, it would be sweet if it had some LED lights. anyways, good luck with your film.

No, sci-fi is the easiest to do with no budget, becuas nearly everything is Computer made!
