Shotgun mic question

Does anyone know if a shotgun mic will work if it is plugged into an a/v outlet on a camcorder?

First thing's first, most mics have xlr males, quarter inch telephone males, or 8th inch telephone males.

Second thing's second, you need an inlet on your cam, not an outlet.

Sorry , I tried that Once , then I got sad because It didn't work , then I got a new camera for Christmas.
