So, we're thinking of doing some more product review stuff, but there's so much out there it's hard to know what YOU guys are interested in. Generally stuff under $500. We've got enough viewers where maybe we'll actually get things for FREE (wooohooooo)
Cool sound ... cool video equipment ... anything you've got your eye on you want to know more about!
I have a canon elura 80. I'm happy with its performance minus the fact that I can't get an external shotgun mic for it. Is it worth getting a new cam eventually, or should I just get some sort of mic system?

God, you guys need to have a complete sub $500 camcorder with mic input review. I know there is hd, etc. but a GOOD standard definition camcorder MUST be out there and affordable so we can shoot stuff and burn it to dvd and look great on tv's.

Optura huh? I knew the Elura and Optura were good. Let me check on this one.
EDIT: I check it out, looks good online. Got a video sample? I know DV is huge, but maybe a good widescreen shot that is full resolution, maybe in MPEG2 or DIVX codec? That is what is missing on many review sites. Thanks.

I totally agree Sandman - for some unknown reason there's NEVER test footage from the cam! It's ridic. We'll be sure to put that into our reviews.

Yeah, place a 10 second clip on the site for download. If you can download, burn to dvd etc and test it, no wondering "how will this look?".

do NOT, i repeat DO NOT buy from bestpricecameras.com
that is a gray market site, that sells gray market equipment.
do a google of "bestpricecameras gray market" and just read the horror stories that happened with people buying goods off that site and countless other gray market sites.
and you'll come across the pictures of the "store front" of some of those places. you'll laugh and then say thank god i didn't buy from there...
go with the authorized dealers. yes it's a more money but it's definitely worth it.
I almost fell for bestpricecamera's scam with the hvx200.
Buy from B&H and nothing else.

I was thinking of getting a nice camera for Christmas because the one I have is crap. It's going to be a gift, but I kind of what it to be under $500 if possible. I really want to get a good camera that I can take places. I'm still searching online for the best solution, but any advise or camera recommendations would be perfect. :fcross:
Any type works as long as its okay

Well my friend and I finished the script for our movie, now to copyright it, and get into filming.:D:hbang::hbang::hbang:
We might be getting help to film it or not. Looking for a camcorder, IF we have to get one.
Minimum requirements:
Broadcast SD (Standard Definition) video and Microphone In.
Would like 16:9 but not needed. Optura 400 as stated before I guess would be fine. Just need to see samples of the video.
EDIT: Another edit here, but the panasonic pv-gs120 looks good. 3 CCD, mic in, 16:9, etc. Not TO high.
this is an awesome thread so i am going to post in it only to pring it back to the front
