Ok, I've got this pretty old Sony camera. It's a Sony CCD-TRV46E. I would like to know how to get it's footage to a computer, I don't seem to have a firewire for it or anything.
If anyone knows otherwise or knows how to get the footage from the tapes to a computer, please tell me. :hayguyz:

Aarne where are you from? Are you back in Czech or Germany?
That camera seems to use RCA outputs. You will need a video card for your computer
that supports the RCA from the camera to the computer and a program to capture the footage.

Actually I'm from Estonia.
RCA eh, well whatever that is I would like to find stuff out about that, thank you. :D
I have one possible way of getting the footage to a computer, It's if my friends camera uses the same kind of tapes, then he can firewire it to his PC and give me the footage, but I haven't seen him for a while and I'm not sure he even has the camera anymore.

What kind of tapes does your camera use? I have an old Sony Digital 8mm that cannot playback or stream 8mm or Hi-8 from older cameras.

Thats exactly what my camera uses, 8mm hi8 :P
But I still want to know of a possible way to do it, I know the footage can be shown on TV straight from the camera, but I don't know where are the plugs for the wires that enable that. Theres 2 plugs that I know of, for the mic and the headphones.

You should be able to buy some replacement RCA jacks for you camera. If it's really old, all you would need are RCA cables, (both male end).

They're the red, white, and yellow plugs. Just ask for RCA plugs.

hey Aarne. Yeah like said before you want to buy an RCA cord that has both video and audio jacks on the same side. To import into your computer your going to need an RCA jack PCI card. This allows you to connect your camcorder to your computer through an analog signal. because of this you might run into loosing a lot of frames from your video because of the analog connection. If you can, plug your camcorder into a power supply because this will help minimize frame loss.
hope that helps.

Buy DVD recorder. Plug your camera to DVD recorder and record to DVD. keep it like that as ordinary dvd or copy it to computer to do editing. that's what i usually do with my old camera. It does take a little time
