I dont think you need live. I had live for a little bit but i cancelled it and i can still look at my Halo3 movies on the net.

Some Cameras (Like the HV20 for instance) can record the Tv Show right through the camera just plug the AV Cable that came with your Camera , Hook it up to the TV , Press the record button ,and start the film it will record the audio and footage.

Check your cameras manual It should tell you if it dose this function
