I was just curious. Everybody here is interested in filmmaking. What's your goals as far as filmmaking goes? Do you aspire to become a director? Do you just do it as a hobby? What are your ambitions?
Personally, I hope to do independent film as a side project mostly for fun while my main job is teaching.

I want to be a full time filmmaker, focusing on the direction side of it but also writing and a bit of acting.

My goal is to become a director as my full time occupation. I want to get my films seen by a mass audience. Whether it be theatrically, independently, or even virally. For the not so distant future I would like to work in production so I am able to fund my own work and get noticed.

I want to become an animator, with filmmaking as a side thing with my friends and future family.

I want to be a writer-director. I've always loved telling stories, and creating, and filmmaking is a field that i've always been deeply interested in.
Cheap digital technologies will make most of what I want to do totally within reach, and new opportunities for independent film makers are being created every day.

most of my career has been in the automotive business, and the idea of filmmaking started as an interest, has grown into an obsession (LOL!), and is right now a hobby, but I will approach it in a professional manner, maybe submit to some festivals, local screenings and see where it goes.

Full-time editor, part-time director.
We'll see how that goes in a few months.

I would like to become an actor. I'm only making short films now because I audition for short films a lot and am often told that I don't have the right look for their films. So I decided to cast myself in my own short films.

I'll give you some money. It's really low budget. I could probably give you a place to stay too. It's a lot of work though. So you probably won't want to do all the stuff for not a lot of money.

I'd like to write but I suck at it (as many of you who have wasted your time reading my pointless drivel will agree with) so I'll most likely end up face down in a gutter.

I want to be a lot like in Robert Rodriguez in the sense that he does a lot of stuff himself (directing, camera, editing, writing, music, FX, and even acting). If that doesn't go well then I would like to be paid to watch movies like a critic or something. Then if I can't do that...ummm... I'll figure something out.

So the majority of the people here want to live off of their art? Good luck.

I would love to become a filmmaker, but I know that that is close to impossible for me. It makes me so sad...but I guess that for right now, it's just a hobby. Damn that sounds gay!
