The Navy's new Prototype Railgun, only uses electricity to fire the slug, all the fire you see is the slug actually disinegrating in the air because it's going so fast.
It's going to have capabilities of more than 8,000 meters a second, able to hit targets 200 miles away in less than 5 minutes.
