Hi fellow Indy Mogulers! (is that the term used 0_o) Okay. I have a Mac, which is good for video editing. EXCEPT! WHAT EFFECTS CAN I DO ON iMOVIE! It feels like I'm very limited as to what I can do with my program. Is there any ideas or suggestions on what effects (visual or like the cartoon hiding thing, that was cool) on iMovie. Before I forget, my camera! It's a Cannon ZR700. It's good, except that when I plug the USB cable into my Mac, it won't read it. Any suggestions?

Extra info:

No, I do not have the money to go buy Final Cut, Final Cut Pro, or a new camera. So, please don't suggest that.:nonono:

in order to import video into iMovie you need to buy a firewire cable.

Okay, that's not my problem. I did end up getting the video importing to work. I had to install the camera software I didn't know I even had :P Anyway, effects for iMovie?

You can buy effect packs, if you haven't downgraded to version 6 of iMovie, (its a lot better), than do it now. you can do green screen and stuff.

You really need to try google.

iMovie comes with some cheesy default effects. Stuff like lightening bolts, sparkles across the screen, etc none of it looks really good. To do effects like the cartoon hiding your going to need an editing software than can do multiple layers of video and iMovie can't do that. I think someone already said this but yeah you need a firewire cable to hook up the camera to the laptop.

My iMovie, that come with my Mac pre-installed does not have any of these special effects. Where would I go to buy this software you are talking about?
