Hi Indymogulers...
I stumbled upon this program a few weeks ago, It's free, very versatile during editing, and has so many features packed in.

http://www.jahshaka.org/

It comes with a bunch of 3d animation tools also, not as advanced as standalone 3d editing programs, but you can do stuff like an animated spinning globe, moving 3d logos etc.. It's also great for visual effects.

It does everything in realtime, so no waiting around for stuff to render either!

Enjoy it.

I've heard of this, and would like to try it, but for some reason it's a real b*tch to install on my system. I'm running xp home sp2, but I get errors every time I try to run it. I've never even managed to boot it up

I know it sounds an obvious question.. but have you tried redownloading/reinstalling it?
Other than that I don't really know what can be done to fix it.
I think there's a troubleshooting section somewhere on their forums.

I tried downloading it, but it just crashes. Does anyone know if it supports Vista?

I downloaded it. I'm sure that with time I could get to know it better, but it doesnt seem very user friendly right now. It took me forever just to figure out how to bring a video into the editor. The good thing is that it's open-source. People will be constantly making it better as time passes.

Not everybody has the money to spend $1000 on a compositing program...

I'd agree with some of the comments about it being hard. It comes with a tutorial which pretty much explains everything. After following the tutorial, I didn't find it much harder to navigate than After Effects.
Being open source, it should hopefully be updated to support Vista sometime soon, if it hasn't already.

I downloaded it and have made tests, but it runs super slow on my computer. And my computer's not really THAT bad. I need to look up a tutorial for it though.
