Tape Format

Hey guys.

So I recently ordered a Canon HV30. It's arriving in a couple of days.

What type of tape should I use. I want to get the HD quality but I'm not sure whether to use a MiniDV tape or an HD MiniDV tape.

What do you think?

For best quality, my guess would be HD MiniDV, but make sure your computer/editing program can handle HD, it's big!

just how big? I have 293 gigs of space left on my harddrive (erasing some old files could increase that to probably 300+. How much HD video do you reckon 100 gigs could hold? I am getting the HV20 soon and I have heard it compresses very nicely while still keeping true HD so does anyone have a rough estimate?

i didnt even think if my cpu could handle it. im running a mac with HD editing software but its an old mac. so...might just be minidv

yeah for HD editing a dual core CPU is recommended. So if you got one you SHOULD be alright unless you have a crap GFX card or no hard drive space.
