This thing is adorable, it's a little robot musician that rolls around and hunts for surfaces it can drum on, then plays out little rhythms on them.
I want 10.

We're all livin' in a yellow drum machine, a yellow drum machine, a yellow drum machine. Damn, the guys that build and program these things continue to amaze me.

Hi, i just stumbled across your post, as I am amazed how many people writes about this weekend-project that I made (The Yellow Drum Machine)
Actually it is really easy to make these kind of robots, and fast too. No prior experience needed.
To get people to realize this, I have made a walk through to get you started if you would like, it only takes 2 hours to build a robot: http://letsmakerobots.com/node/17
..it IS really. really easy!
(and for "the fans" of my humble little creation, here is an extra "single" (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-1229584477125883272&hl=en):)
Thanks for the kind words,
Fritsl (and on behalf of YDM, sitting next to me ;)

Oh wow! The YDM creator himself! Welcome, Sir!
You REALLY need to pitch the YDM to a toy company, everyone I know, whose seen the video, wants one.

Yeah, thanks - but how? I mean - toy-companies must have a complete defense-wall of "go-away, we are not interested"..
Thanks,
Fritsl

I could try to help you get in contact with UGobe, they are the ones who created the Pleo, they are really into toy robots, and were founded by the guy who created the Furby, the YDM seems like it would be right up their alley.
