I Forgot to empty my pockets before a prat fall, Key's Ballbaring(don'task), and a Zippo, Och!
Then I was making this zombie short film and I was trying my hand a squibs(failed) but the bad thing was not no head wound it was that some one was watching what I had recorded and forgot to go back to the end of the tape!
So I had about 70% of the film done then I tryed the squib and so It recorded 20 mins of me sitting with a fake gun in my mouth and all I managed to do was waste 30% of the film, I have since scrapped the project, I will try it again once I have my own camera and willing zombies!:)

While shooting our kung fu movie I fell, about ten feet and dislocated my left knee. To top it off we were about a two hour hike back into the woods, no way out but to hike it back. I spent the next two month on crutches, and we are just now back to our filming almost a year later.

Almost forgot while rehershing a sword fight I nicked the cheek of my opponent right under his eye.

Me and my friend were making a movie, it started in the day and ended up still being made at about midnight - inside. My family had gone to bed and we were editing it when we realised we were missing the rugby tackle in the hall. So we did it and everyone woke up and started shouting. oh well. ;)

Making Manhunt one of my friends was supposed to look like he was hanging. He stood on my friends back who was crouched and put the rope around his neck, the rope was not tied (i thought) in a way that would choke him so if he slipped it would just fall apart. Suffice to say he did slip off my friends back and the rope did not untie, luckily he landed with enough rope that his toes touched the ground, i decided to hang a dummy instead for the next take!

when I was recording for kill Joe (link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PwCJInaGHj4) we had most of the recording done, about two more days left. we started editing and moved the finished video (from what we had so far) to my friends computer, then my computer crashed and we lost about 12 different movie projects including Kill Joe. the link above is the video that we put on my friend's computer. then his computer crashed so now all thats left of it is the youtube quality video, so recently we have been remaking Kill Joe, (link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JwwsVvH97hA) and at the part ware I jump onto the deck, my brother wanted to try a film effect and have my friend jump for one take, and he is shorter than me so I had to lift him up to the railing but when I let go and walked away he lost his grip and swung in and broke the window.

Me and a friend were trying out fireballs effects (not detonationfilms.com stuff, we made real fireballs). We couldn't get it to work at first.

Unfortunately, the first time it did work, the shooter was pointing right at me, so I saw and felt a huge, really hot fireball in my face. I didn't get burnt or lose my eyebrows or anything because I was about 4ft away, and the fireball was about 3ft long. But we did nearly set a window ledge on fire and got a bit burnt on our hands from flying embers (wear GLOVES, folks!).

After that, we got the technique right and it worked every time, with fireballs ranging from 1ft to 5ft high!

I remember when I was about 11 using an old VHS camcorder. Me and a friend had just snook a gander at Tim Burton Sleepy Hollow and decided we'd try and recreate the headless horseman (actually the scene we recreated was the fake horseman with the flaming pumpkin) so we took a football (soccer ball?) and painted it orange. My friend put a top over his head. I ripped open the football and filled it with petrol from an old can in the garage. Friend holds it whilst blind, I set fire to it. Everythings okay. I get behind camera tell him to run towards me, he falls over, ball explodes, top on fire, 11 year olds screaming, he still has the scars on his hand.

Based on the stories I've heard, you should not risk any special effect that involves filling something with gasoline. I didn't know them personally, but I read about a couple guys who tried to do light-saber fights by filling fluorescent tubes with gasoline and setting them on fire. It also didn't turn out well.

I'm not sure how, but after taking the direct footage off of my Camera, one scene's audio was on a later-on scene and so forth and so on. I STILL have no idea how it happened, but it still angers me. If anyone is wondering, it was about my friend illegally downloading a show I made...on my own computer. In other words, he downloaded files off of a false-sharing site that were on my computer anyway.
...Trust me, you had to watch it.

I did a scene of ninjas charging down a mountain path on either side of me (the cameraman).

One of the ninjas thought it would be HILARIOUS as he ran by to hit me in the stomach with his weapon as hard as he could. Obviously hitting your cameraman ruins the shot.

Last December, I was doing effects for my friends school project; there was a 30 page script and it turned out that only me, the director, and the writer were the only ones who read it. And on top of that, what was supposed to be two 6 (?) hour days turned into one 12 hour day.

Never cast someone bossier than you. I am constantly getting punched in the face because I don't let other people set up the shots even when I know they are terrible at it.

Also during my last shoot I went handheld and nearly fell into a pile of rusty saws and gardening shears. It was dark out and I was looking at the LCD screen, not the ladder on the ground.

No one has ever gotten hurt, but the worst mistake I've made was forgetting to cut after a take. I'd hit record, thinking I'm rolling, when I've just cut, and rolling, thinking I've cut. So I'd basically wind up with a bunch of behind the scenes footage, between takes, but none of the takes of the scene I shot.

Tell me about it.. I've been on a film shoot in a warehouse, and because this is Britain, and the government doesn't like anything that releases any form of projectile whatsoever.. the entire cast and crew ended up spending an hour being preached to by the health and safety guys that accompanied the blank-firing guns we'd commissioned for the shoot. I am now fully versed in every single possible situation that could arise from firing a blank-shooter.

The last time I did a 48 hour film contest I stayed up the whole weekend and passed out in my chair while editing on suday morning. I came to at 4pm and the deadline was at 6 pm.

I was also working one my girlfriend's computer, because mine went to hell during editing. The only program I had was windows movie maker and the footage came out horrible.

Now I know better than to take on too many tasks by myself and I purchased a new computer that is extremely powerful as well as keeping my old one (now repaired) as a backup.

That would of suited the mood of the movie.
Kid on crack = overly bright and unwatchable, gives the audience a glimpse of life through the eyes of a junkie :D

I had a tub of fake blood some fake knifes plus rubber bodyparts in my moped backbox when a policeman pulled me over cos by backbox was slightly open. He looked inside, My teacher at the time had to come in and explain to the police I was on a film project.

I tried to slide over a car bonnet once and fell on the floor knocking the equipment over.

This wasnt during filming but.
I was in my D.T class and was helping to stack a bunch of metal rods up on to the rack. Id just finished and i take a step back. About a second later a metal rod with a sharp end fall down point first exactly where I had been standing.

Any way this event then kick started a hour long discusion about the final destination movies.

I was once filming in a school and there was the scene on an elevator. So, I was standing at the point where the doors come together. Now, this elevator was old, and it had not sensors. So the doors started to close and I jumped out of the way just in time!

We were filming a scene where the actor had to "fall out of the sky". So the actor was standing on a swingset top bar. (the part that is high up and the swings are attached to). When he jumped off his pants go caught on a screw and it ripped his jeans from the very bottom to the top. He was just hanging there with the biggest weggie of his life and so I had to get it on film. Then I had to get a ladder and get him down before he had any permanent damage. It's in our movie "Random Crap 2". Even though is was a mess up, it was so funny that we had to put it in there.

Oh yeah, Also one time I had to secure a Par Can on some bleachers that were (I don't know how to explain this) folded up you could say. Anyway I attached the light onto a PA speaker stand and set it on the back of the bleacher. I was pulling the power extension cord and I accidentally pulled the light off of the bleachers. It bent it up a bit but no real damage.
Then I used a whole role of gaffers tape to fix the light stand to the wall. haha

EDIT: I wont make another post but I'll tell another story...

I got punched in the face while filming a fight scene.

I almost got shot by the police once.

When I was doing the effects on Left 4 Dead (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9WqzwhNnL8U), we had a few shots with (armed) protagonists outside a warehouse in one of the psuedo-industrial parts of the suburb. We shot those with no issue and moved onto the interiors. A while later we heard police sirens and walked outside. There were four police cars, filled with officers armed and in vests. I came out with my hands up. The situation was thankfully defused as a number of zombies walked out to see what was happening.

We showed them the embarassingly-fake guns we were using (this is Australia, remember - a sufficiently realistic gun could see someone in jail). They finally left after half-an-hour or so, telling us that 11 cars had been sent for. No one was fined.

It's sheer providence that no one was hurt (the paranoia and sense of persecution amoung the Australian police force is terrifying) and that we were able to continue without issue, but let this serve as a lesson: Even if you're shooting on private property, tell the police what you're doing. If there's any chance of someone taking it seriously and calling the cops, it's better to defuse that shit before it happens.

Spent a lot of my life a few years back on a little stick-figure animation program called Pivot. Made some damn fine movies. I uploaded about 3 of my best to YouTube, thank god, before the computer corrupted itself.

It felt like my childhood memories were wiped away, and replaced with burning salt.

Than my YouTube account got deleted, becuase I uploaded "Man Getting hit by a Football" from the simpsons, which is copyright infringement (it was a 15 second clip, they could've let it slide!) so I couldn't even get the animations that I did upload, back onto the new computer.

Damn the fact that it takes forever to animate!
