Switch off the lights and other non-essential electrical items in your house between 8pm and 9pm local time tonight to save energy and cut light pollution.
This is the official site (http://earthhour.org/), and here it is on Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Earth_Hour).
I'm going switch off my PC and lights and see if I really can go for an hour without the internet. I'm also bribing one of my friends with a flapjack to do the same. I don't have flapjacks to go round the whole of Mogulville, but try to take part anyway! :D

I'm sick in bed! Without electricity all I have is reading. The book I'm currently reading (dv rebels guide) requires me to watch the dvd before I continue and I've read all the novels I own multiple times. Sorry Spleg I'm going to have to pass you up on this one!

Light takes energy and to make that energy we make pollution.

Not always... Light Pollution is too much light from urban centers overwhelming ambient night light.
Like when you can't see stars because of all of the light diffusing into the atmosphere.

I don't think this would help the Earth, granted I don't believe in Global Warming really either. Don't debate me and get off topic, you can PM though, if you want.

Another way for people to feel good about themselves without actually accomplishing anything. Gestures. More hollow gestures.
Sometimes I despise my fellow man.

I hate this stuff because it's dishonest, making people think stuff like this would have any effect on Global warming.

The point isn't to save the world by having everyone turn off their lights for an hour - it's about raising awareness for global warming and encouraging people to be more environmentally friendly in the long-run. Like AC said, he's going to do it once a week.

And doing it once a week isn't going to do anything.
If man made global warming is as bad as they say it is it is going to take a lot more than what people will voluntarily do to stop it.

Unfortunately no one seems to realize that the enormus amount of candles probably puts out way more pollution in the long run. Just my CAN$0.02
