so my sister was watching THATS SO RAVEN. and i looked it up on wikipedia and it said that they have a multicamera setup.
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/7/7b/Multicamera-diagram.png
i was wondering does anyone have one of these for their videos? or do you guys have a set?
and just maybe say any other shows that do this.:geeeee::geeeee::geeeee::geeeee:
Not to get too much off subject but disney is horrible at shows. they do 43(phil of the future) -100(thats so raven) then discontinue them. like even stevens and thats so raven and soo on... prove me wrong. but thats what i think. yes i know they grow older but comeon.

They set up artificial limits on all of their shows, so that shows will follow arcs instead of meandering on for as long as they are getting ratings.
It's because they want to try to constantly innovate with new types of shows, and if they have old shows filling up their schedule, it prevents new shows with new blood and new ideas coming to the fore-front.
It also keeps them from having to deal with issues like Kid actors getting too old to realistically keep playing their part.
As for the Multi-Cam setup. Multi-cam setups are usually only a professional thing, i've never seen an Indy Production have more than 2 Cameras.
They are also kind of useless for small projects. For a big show like Raven, they have more than one Editor, so they can easily roll through the master video from each camera, and clip it together, because they have big teams.
They like having coverage like this because they might do 2 or 3 shows a week, and if one camera didn't record something from a good angle, they have a rainbow of angles covering it, so they can easily switch between angles and make a more dynamic shot.
But for an Indy Production, there is usually only one editor, you, or a friend who is going to be editing.
A better idea of Indy Productions is meticulous storyboarding, and then getting all of the shots how you want it, making a quicker job for the editor. If the Editor doesn't have to process 4 different tapes of the same action from just slightly different angles, that saves him a bucketload of time.
A show like Raven can afford to have 4 rigs filming a scene, because they can have half a dozen editors processing them in tandem.
For the sake of sanity and efficiency, a smaller production simply can't operate like this.
I can understand MAYBE two camera's with something like a fight, MAYBE, or if you're going to film a "big effect" like a car wreck, or some kind of pyrotechnics display, or something else really big. (But if you can afford a car wreck or pyrotechnics display, you're passing away from "Indy" territory.)
But I mean, think of it this way, if you bought 4 just HALF DECENT cameras, that's AT LEAST 1,200 dollars or more.
You could have easily invested that 1,200 and gotten yourself a decent HD prosumer, or a used prosumer cam. Get a much better picture.
One of the Graduates from my Universities program, works for Brett Ratner (Rush Hour films, X-Men: The Last Stand, Red Dragon.) and he says that Ratner is very lazy, that he'll record something with maybe half a Dozen cameras, and he just lets his editors chew it up, but that he is so wasteful, that he'll spend 10 million easy on filming a scene that if he had used just half the amount of Camera's and planned it a little better would have cost less than a quarter of that.
So basically, don't think like this, you don't need to be Michael Bay or Brett Ratner at this stage in your development. If you want to be lazy, thats fantastic, I wish you luck on it, BUT, you're going to have to work your ass off before you ever get your opportunity to be lazy and film something with 10 cameras.

I've worked with some guys who like to use two cameras at all times. It just so happens that one of the guy's has a friend who has the exact same camera. I forget what it is, but it shoots HD. He mainly uses two because he allows for lots of improv in his films, and he likes to have multiple options.

I use two cameras all the time now, just because it speeds up the process. You can get all the shots you need for a scene in half the time with two cameras. The big hurdle is finding someone who has a good eye and can get the shot properly. I lucked out on my last film, getting a good second camera operator.

Pretty sure he is. What makes you think he isn't?

2 or 3 cameras can also come in handy when shooting improvised scenes (however there are other pitfalls that come with lots of improv)

I can see your IP access point, I can see you're accessing from a server in the Pacific, so it makes sense.
I can also input it into the IP locater, and it shows me the exact location of the server of your Internet Provider.
Also, I realize that Hawaii has both Disney, and Lawns, so there was nothing weird about you knowing what Disney is, and living in Hawaii.

Hey Wes you should check out the special features on the Rush Hour 2 DVD. They caught him sleeping on set. It also bothered me that he mentions that they shot the film without having completed the scripted. I know some feature films have done that but those were all smaller productions with smaller budgets. But you'd think the crew would appreciate a full script just to know they aren't wasting their time.

Yea, never been a big Ratner fan.
Only the massive talent of Jackie Chan has made any of his American films worth watching.

He is an AMAZING individual, a Nonuple threat.
Writer, Director, Singer, Choreographer, Stuntman, producer, actor, comedian, and martial artist.
Jackie Chan has more talent in his left pinkie than Ratner has in his whole body.

I always have two cameras on hand (learned the hard way once, one fell off a roof, and we had to abandon the day) But i almost always use one at a time.
For one scene i am doing, we do not have a second try, so we are setting up 4 cameras to capture the action. (all non-moving)

I'm suprised Jackie Chan hasn't killed you yet. Of course he is always such a nice guy he would be apologizing the entire time.
