I've heard that about other types of rechargeable batteries, but I've never actually known for it to happen. I guess they should try it on Mythbusters.

It's kind of true. From what I understand, it's bad for any battery to be charged for too long, or to be charged too often. It can drastically decrease the life of your battery...

... I think.

I dunno...But I'm pretty cautious with my battery.

I dont leave it on the camera and only charge it when it is empty or nearly empty. Probably overkill but its not like its any hassle.

For infolithium there's no overcharging, but if your friend's battery is losing it's full charge over a period of time that isn't uncommon - I don't know if this applies to all, but most batteries have a charge life (i.e. ipods have a charge cycle of 500 charges, etc.), so if your battery is losing its max charge - it could be because it's nearing its golden years. Same applies for a camera - the more you charge off of your camera could affect the camera's ability to emit power to the battery (in that case, have your camera checked out for any defects or repairs needed).
Hope this helps.

all batteries eventually will go bad. i dont think its a problem however, to leave it charging. i've been doing it for years.
