I got an email from a viewer and they wanted to tell me about this new movie and OMG it looks really funny. It has a ridiculous premise, but with Jack Black, Mos Def and Michel Gondry involved it has to be good.

Plus it's right up our alley. All about DIY film making. What do you guys think?

Yeah, Gondry was on the Late Night with Conan O'Brien show
last night. They showed a clip from the movie.

Personally, I think the idea was already taken a few years
back when the "Amanda Show" was airing on Nickelodeon
and they had the segment called BLOCKBLISTER where the
family owned video store recreated all the movies themselves.

Anyone remember that show/segment???????????

I'd really like to see this but won't be able to until it's in wide release. It's just not playing near me. Happens a lot for films that start in limited release. I had to wait a while to see Juno.

I just saw it tonight. Hilarious. Though the ending was a little un-ending-like, it implied what happened. I really liked the artsy look the film had. My favorite part was when it was showing them making all of the movies while the camera panned across each scene. I'd definitely see it again sometime.

I finally got to see it last night. If you go in expecting the entire movie to be them making sweded movies you'll walk out disappointed. While that is a key component to the story, it's not what the whole movie is about.

It's funny and it has it's moments. It's an okay film.

Yeah I saw it about 2 or 3 weeks ago. I dunno if it captured the filmmaking thing TODAY, but a few years ago, sure why not? It kinda is related to Son of Rambow. It was the first good Jack Black movie that I've seen since School of Rock. I liked it alot.

Am I the only person who didn't think this movie was that good. I mean... I would watch it again and I liked some parts but over all it wasn't a very satisfying movie. That being said I cant remember why. I went to see back when it came out I can't remember what I thought was bad only that it wouldn't be a movie I would go out of my way to see again.

I loved that, how it drifted from film to film seamlessly. The ending was so sad.

Gondry is such a great great director.

My favorite overall part would probably be the Ghostbusters sequence, I loved their Marshmallow man.

It was hilarious when they showed the photo of the crowd, then sprayed whipped cream all over it to show the marshmellow man exploding. And the sparkly streamer things they used for energy beams. Haha, classic stuff.

I bought this last week at walmart for $13.

I just watched it a few minutes ago with my mom.

We both loved it. And it got her more excited in my decision to enter filmmaking.

There were PLENTY of "neat tricks" for us amateurs.

Does this director have a long history of 'indy' films?

Cause almost every tactic was clever.

Just seen this one myself very recently...

The end was really special... It's the kind of premiere that I'd love - the whole community coming together.

Very life affirming.

Yes, Michel Gondry uses a lot of really "basic" tricks in his films, but makes them look amazing.

His films kind of have a very stripped down quality, where he utilizes his imagination over simply just throwing more money at them.

I HIGHLY suggest checking out his other films, Human Nature (http://www.imdb.com/video/screenplay/vi2274361625/), Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0338013/) (With Jim Carrey), and The Science of Sleep (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0354899/).

He's also done a lot of really fantastic short films, and he's done literally a PILE of renowned music videos, including The Whites Stripes "Fell in Love with a Girl", with the Legos.
