Hi! I have got a little problem with my crappy microphone. I just bought a camera and my budget is super small right now so Ive been doing my recordings on a normal computer mic. Its old and crappy so you have to talk very close to it but while doing that you get the "wind effect" from your breathing. Is there any makeshift fixes for that or am I facing the fact that I have to buy a new mic?

try getting a small block of foam, just bigger than the mic, and cut a hole into it for the mic to slip into...no sure if it will work, but it is worth a try.

You need a wind screen like this:

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/212168-REG/Lectrosonics_RK150_RK150_Windscreen.html

It works with the tiny multimedia mics from pacific geek

You can also make a pop filter like this:

Thats Vaughn Whynots.

They work alright but you can try to get a better mic if possible

Help it helps!

I was actually thinking about the foam thingy but I wasnt sure if it should be over the mic like one of those commercial ones or close to it like in that diy vid?

You need a wind screen like this:

Thats a windscreen ( the foam thing) go for the foam one

umm, what I meant was that I will go for a DIY foam one but should I do it like those commercial ones = over the mic or like in the vid = close to the mic. Which one gives a better result for cancelling out the "wind"?

BTW: my mic has a stand with some plastic thingies in front so I could easily mod the "DIY coathanger windscreen" to it.

Well Ill go with the panty hose. But Ill point out that its really impossible to speak without having the breathing affect the sound as I have to speak REALLY close to the mic.

THANKS EVERYONE! ;)
