How long does Letterboxing in iMovie generally take?

I know it took a long-ass time previously. I'm importing about an hour worth of footage and I've been here a few hours.

Yeah, My friend has that problem but i think he tried just exiting out and going back in, but then recovering the files. I don't know how to do it though. But maybe if you know it might help.
