Well -- yeah. I just blew all my money on an AG-HVX202E (http://www.lemac.com.au/202.htm). Have any of the older members ever made such a huge investment on a piece of film equipment? How did it work out for you?

That looks like a really good camera! As long as you still have money for lights and stuff, or if you already have it, it should work out very well for you. Good luck with the filming

I haven't made that kind of decision......yet. Hope it works out for you though. A friend of mine has a similar camera that shoots really good, (I don't know which model exactly).

Congrats man! I know some people that use those cams. It's picture is incredible, and it has some great features. I'd like to see what you are going to do with it.

If I could have i would have too. Just enjoy and use the camera don't second guess yourself unless the money invested was needed for something like food and shelter.

Also if you get tired of it please send it to me! LOL.

Nice camera!

So what are you shooting Ho Ho Homicidal on?

I've had a lot of experience around it, as the HVX202 was used on From Parts Unknown. I was quite impressed with its performance. My major motivation for it above its competitors was the ability to shoot 1080p and the use of better compression algorithms. The comparable Sony cameras use repulsive, lossy compression algorithms -- colour-subsampling is poor and, to my shock, they actually used delta-frames!

The HVX202 does, however, up-res pretty egregiously. My justification runs as follows: This allows it to have a greater image size without the clear demarcation of edges apparent on other digital video cameras. It contributes to an organic, 'soft' look.

Whatever -- I've done some pretty exhaustive research on all these cameras and my choice came down to this: The HVX202 will give me the best look for the least money.
