I was in a play for my church and i needed to be bald, so we used a bald cap and instead of spirit gum they used a little bit of corn syrup and i was wondering if it is cheaper and better to use corn syrup instead of spirit gum?

I've never heard of using corn syrup as an adhesive. Sounds funny and impractical.
I recommend using spirit gum and make sure to get spirit gum remover.

Spirit Gum is pretty cheap -- I really don't think it's worth saving a tiny amount by using an inferior product.
Though I don't like Spirit Gum. I'd recommend Pros-Aide (http://www.fxwarehouse.info/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=ProsAide).

How is Pros-Aide removed? I've never used it before, how might it be better?

Pros-Aide is removed with Isopropyl Myristate, same as Spirit Gum. The major advantage of Pros-Aide over Spirit Gum is that it causes far less irritation to the eyes and the mucus membranes. It's not tacky like Spirit Gum, so you don't end up with a sticky mess on everything.
Very few effects artists still use Spirit Gum.
Edit: Also, Pros-Aide is a lot more flexible and it doesn't get dry and crusty like Spirit Gum. Bottom line -- it's manufactured to a lot higher quality and it's more comfortable to be exposed to. It's a medical-grade adhesive.
I personally recommend you use Pros-Aide over Spirit Gum. At very least, give it a trial and see what you think. It took me a while to get used to the lack of tackiness, but I'm not looked back since.
Telesis-5 is supposedly also very good, but I've never tried it. It's more expensive and apparently a lot stronger -- probably not worth it for simple jobs. I've heard of using Pros-Aide habitually and Telesis-5 only around the mouth.
