Check the Audio Mix in the Camera's menu.

Make sure you're using the right cord/male end. The male end should have two black rings on the metal part near the tip.

Check if you fully inserted the mic-plug into your camera. Sometimes it doen't make contact the right way and it can just go a little bit further for both parts of the plug to make contact.

Are you sure its a stereo mic? Check if there are two plastic rings on the mic jack or one.

That mic is only a mono mic, get a mono to stereo adaptor or add it in post

I wouldn't bother buying another mic. The vast vast majority of professional mics are mono and will go to left-channel only via stereo mini-plug, so your best bet is to figure out how to deal with this in your editing software (e.g., duplicate channel, use left channel only), since this is not the last time you will encounter this issue!
