Did a google, found this:
When the camera shakes during explosions, Steven Spielberg (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000229/) used drills attached to the side of the camera which were turned on when required. While shooting with this effect the crew's photographer let Spielberg know that there was a shaker lens for cameras. Spielberg said in an interview that he had thought he had invented a great new technique at first.
it came from here (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120815/trivia).

What I would do, is that whenever an explosion or bullet hits nearby, merely have someone standing next to the camera that can slap it on cue.
Then to cover up the slap noise on the camera microphone, just add cut the noise out, and add in the explosion or ricochet noise.

thanks i'll try that.
I once used a dollar-store battery-powered fan with a washer taped to it to make a camera shake.

yes, i know i can just shake the camra. but i want a more controled shake, not just me shaking the camra back and forth.
if that makes sence.

If you want the entire shot to be shaky, standing far from your object and zooming in also let's the camera shake. It's your natural arm-balance-shake... Or whatever you would call it ;)

Just at a guess, merely "hand shaking" the camera might not be "regular" enough. Sounds, in some ways, like you are almost after camera vibration, of a sort.
...a "repeatable" shake, as it were. I think you're gonna have to improvise some kinda motorized apparatus.

I have never heard of that editing program so i have no idea what it can do. But if you can create motion using keyframes with it then your set.. but if your editing program cant do that, then im not sure. id do it in post since i have Adobe Premiere and I know you can do it there

Yup, apparently to duplicate the effect of being in close proximity to an explosion, like in the battlefield scenes in Saving Private Ryan.
Capishe?

i would say download that awesome preset at video copilot, but i don't know what software that is, so, keyframes would probably be your best bet..
