You can use flour, or baking soda, or powdered sugar, or koolaid.
Anything that is powdery.

i like to use corn starch just dont let it box fall over inside on a cappeted set...

i didn't film it but i just saw what it would look like, and sand works pretty good. i guess it just depends on what material the bullet is ricocheting off of.

I assume you saw one of Indy Mogul's latest episodes. If so, then yeah, any sort of powder will work. Try to match the color of the powder to whatever the bullet is ricocheting off of. :)

Exactly, if it's ricocheting off of something that is plaster, use something white.
If it's ricocheting off of brick, Cherry Kool-Aid might look better.
