I'll be monitoring and updating this thread often so ask any questions you may have, BUT please read through the entire thread before posting as many questions have already been answered. Also below are some FAQ's.

Is there an age restriction?
For practical and legal reasons the new host should really be 18 or over, possibly 16 or 17....BUT! Exceptions can always be made for the right person, so if you think you got what it takes you should enter.

Do I have to live in NYC?
Being closer to NYC would be a plus, but in no way a requirement. You can live anywhere in the US and really good submissions from overseas will be considered.

If I am selected will I get paid?
Yes, there will be some form of compensation for make the show each week.

Is YourFX still going to be around?
YES, YourFx will continue to air the last Monday of every month.

Will I have to make an episode every week just like Erik?
YES, except for the last Monday of every month, that is still for YourFX.

Can I use the BFX intros and outros?
YES! You can download them here!

Can I make the show with my friends?
Absolutely! In fact that would probably be better. Maybe their is a host/writer and a builder/camera person. We don't care. Whatever it takes to make the best show! GO TEAMWORK!

How much will I be paid?
We are still figuring this out, but most likely you would be reimbursed for all your expenses and be paid a per episode fee on top of that.

Can their be more then one host so that one person doesn't have to do an episode every week?
I am down for this idea if the community is. I think it could be cool to get different prospective and build techniques from two hosts. They could even live in different parts of the country and take turns. We'll see how many awesome people try out!

When does the new host start?
I will start working behind the scenes with the new host (or hosts) towards the end of March and the first new episode will probably air in May. So there is a good amount of time to work out the kinks and get a few episodes in the can.

Are you just going to give the job to the best video?
THIS IS NOT A CONTEST. This is an "open audition" that is only part of a wider search. We'll have a short list after the open call, we'll do interviews, heck I may even fly out to meet the finalists. We are going to put a lot of energy making sure this person can do the job and has the support to do it.

How can someone make a build episode and a big test film every week?
First off I am open to having more then one host, so you may not have to do an episode every week. Secondly I was thinking the test films should get smaller, shorter, simpler AND be part of the build episode. Just like they used to be back in the day. BFX is a build show, that should be the focus. Plus I do think it would be too hard to make a good build episode and a big test film. It took me a long time to work up to that.

What is Erik's new show going to be?
Honestly we don't know yet. I've got a couple really cool ideas, but you'll have to wait and see. Point is I still want to be a big part of Indy Mogul!

How long should my audition episode be?
Generally a BFX episode is about 5 minutes, but considering you will be including a simple test film with the build (like the old BFX episodes) anything below 7 minutes should be fine.

What do I do once I'm done with my episode and ready to enter?
First off label your episode "NEW HOST (your name/ the effect)" then upload it HERE THEN go HERE and let us know you've uploaded by leaving a post. Just to be safe!

so, this whole thing about making a build episode, does the build have to be something original, or can it be something done before? not that I'm gonna try and do the latter or anything. lol.

I think living close to New York would be a plus, but in no way necessity. As long as the projects are good, the show is good and you deliver it on time you can live where ever you want.

We haven't worked out any of these details yet, but yes there would be some payment involved. Most likely you would act as a freelancer for NNN.

I think it would be better if it was an original idea, because the new host will have to do lots of original projects. That being said I think there is lots of room for improving and re-doing old projects. Every builder will make the same project different and there the episode would different from the old one.

Pretty sure you'd have to both live in the US and be at least 18. Sorry everyone, but from a legal/ logistical stand point that's probably how its going to end up.
